PATIENT: “Faye” : (name withheld to protect privacy) I am a female Caucasian, aged 58 years.
I first started having symptoms of COPD in my late thirties, due to a smoking habit. I was slightly short of breath and had occasional bouts of tachycardia. Investigations revealed that my cardiac system was healthy but that I had evidence of asthma and COPD. I started using a rescue inhaler at that time.
Over the years, not giving up smoking, my condition worsened slowly.
In 2020, I had a very bad episode of COVID which had me with an oxygen saturation in the 70’s. I was hospitalized and treated. During that period I stopped smoking, but after a few months, I started again. I had two more episodes of what I presumed was covid, one of which led me to hospitalization again.
In 2023, after a period of extreme stress, poor environmental conditions and continued smoking, I suffered a severe flare up of COPD, together with pneumonia. On arrival of the ambulance, my oxygen saturation was 64%. I was hospitalized, but was severely disabled from weakness and breathlessness on discharge. Having now completely given up smoking (and not smoked since) I was disappointed that my health did not improve more significantly, although I was grateful to be alive. My consulting physician was extremely concerned.
I found it very difficult to work, as my job involves physical activity. I found it difficult to walk across the house, or any distance at all. I was constantly fatigued. I was not sleeping well. My weight had dropped to 43kg. I was severely depressed. Normal daily activities became very difficult. Fear of suffocation was a major issue. At this point I was classified as Stage Four, “very severe” obstructive respiration. COPD has no cure and is considered a progressive and terminal illness.
Dr Solanki was visiting in a personal capacity and suggested that I try GOLDIC. I immediately booked a consultation and we started treatment in March 2024.
I have had three full treatments of the nebulization as well as iv infusions. After each treatment I did feel very tired for a few days, but that soon subsided. I started noticing a difference in my ability to function within three weeks of the first treatment.
Every week sees a fresh improvement. I am able to walk well and for quite some distance. I have more energy. My appearance has vastly improved with increased weight and oxygenation. I am able to speak properly, without gasping for air. My family are all deeply gratified to see the changes, which have given me a new lease on life. I am working again and able to handle myself well in stressful conditions. I am able to travel alone carrying bags and negotiating airports. I am more productive in my days and have a vigor that I have not felt for many years. My family say that they have not seen me this healthy in 15 years.
My current resting oxygen saturation is 96%. In the past it rarely went over 88%, at rest and would sometimes drop into the 70’s with exertion.
I am still taking the Zimbus inhaler , once per day. I am doing breathing exercises successfully, and slowly increasing my muscle mass. The only time I get vaguely breathless is in humid conditions, descent in an aircraft and climbing stairs.
I am immensely grateful for this second chance at life, and have no intention of wasting this miraculous and significant improvement in my quality of life.
Sincere thanks to Dr Solanki, his team and the developers of GOLDIC.
