GOLDIC® SERUM

PERITENDINOUS INJECTIONS

Tendon injuries are often multifactorial and can be classified as tendonitis, characterized by inflammation and tendinosis, characterized by degenerative changes in the tendon structure.

Tendinitis is the inflammation of the tendon and results from micro-tears that happen when the musculotendinous unit is acutely overloaded with a tensile force that is too heavy and/or too sudden.

Tendinitis can occur in almost any area of the body where a tendon connects a bone to a muscle. The most common places are:

  • Wrist and thumb
  • Elbow
  • Shoulder
  • Hip
  • Knee
  • Achilles Tendon

Tendinosis (Tendinopathy) is a degeneration of the tendon’s collagen in response to chronic overuse; when overuse is continued without giving the tendon time to heal and rest, such as with repetitive strain injury, tendinosis results.

Both tendinitis and tendinosis can be treated successfully with GOLDIC®. Tendon injuries remain a significant cause of both work-related and sports-related injury. GOLDIC® is our attempt to shorten healing time and restore tendons to optimal mechanical strength.

Treating a damaged tendon with GOLDIC® serum the doctor injects the processed serum around and into the affected area. All GOLDIC® peritendinous injections are performed as an outpatient procedure.

An experienced physician should perform the injections. The use of imaging technology, such as ultrasound, may be used to ensure a safe and precise placement of the injection into the damaged tendon.

A thorough understanding of basic injection principles, knowledge of the underlying anatomy, and consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of the imaging, approaches should facilitate the selection of the most appropriate technique for any clinical scenario.
